Kevin John Klein, 53, of Masonville, Iowa, died at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City on Monday, December 21, 2009. He was born in Manchester on August 23, 1956, the son of Raymond and Beverly (Ungs) Klein, Jr. He was raised and educated in the Manchester area attending St. Mary's Catholic School and Manchester High School.
On March 17, 1979, Kevin was united in marriage to Colleen Haas at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manchester. He was a musician and a drummer in many bands, the last being “Ozzy and the Checkmates”.
Kevin was a member of the Eagle’s Club. He loved his family and enjoyed fishing, hunting, metal detecting, playing the lottery, boating, concerts, and playing music.
Survivors include his wife, Colleen of Masonville; one daughter, Andrea (Andrew) Elledge of Raleigh, North Carolina; one step-son, Shawn (Kara) Downs of Earlville; his parents, Ray and Bev Klein of Manchester; four step-grandchildren, Crystal, Chelsey, Michaela, and Brent; two step-great-grandchildren, Serenity and Keeley; six siblings, Rick (Susan) Klein of Scranton, Mary Lee (Jim) Olson of Cedar Falls, Kim (Bart) Haigh of Iowa City, and Kari (Jerry) Clute of Peyton, Colorado, Rob Klein of Manchester, Mark (Janet) Klein of Manchester; and family friends, Candy and Amanda.
Kevin was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Lois Klein; and maternal grandparents, Cletus and Evelyn Ungs.
