Eugene “Gene” Raymond Watt, 72, Monona, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon following a courageous battle with cancer. Eugene was born on November 20, 1937, in Sterling, IL to Harry John and Anna Orvilla (Jones) Watt. He was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church in Morrison, IL. Eugene graduated from Morrison High School in 1955 and Northern Illinois University in 1960, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He served in the Army National Guard of Illinois from September, 19, 1960, to September 18, 1963. He was united in marriage to Bernice Elizabeth Johnson on November 22, 1972, at Court Street United Methodist Church, Rockford, IL. Eugene worked as an accountant at Swiss Valley Farms Cheese plant in Luana for twenty-seven years. Eugene enjoyed playing cards, golfing, bowling, camping, and fishing on Ten Mile Lake in northern MN. He was also an avid sports fan, and enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, and Upper Iowa football and basketball games. Survivors include his wife Bernice Watt of Monona; sons, Alan (Melanie) Watt of Marion, David Watt of Marion, Raymond Watt of Cedar Rapids; his sister, Dorothy Ann (George) Watson of Columbia, SC and four nieces and seven nephews. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn (Richard) Martin and an infant brother. | |
