Earlene Jane Thompson, 81, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2010, at her residence. She was born on January 25, 1929, in Sioux City, Iowa. Earlene graduated from Council Bluffs High School.
Earlene was united in marriage to Keith Thompson on January 31, 1948, in Shambaugh, Iowa They resided at Council Bluffs, Red Oak, Cherokee, and New Hampton until they moved to Manchester. Together they owned and operated Thompson Shoe Store. Earlene also operated Tots to Teens from 1970 to 1981.
Earlene enjoyed her family, grandchildren, sewing, and church. She was a member of Community Congregational Church and currently was serving on the Food Pantry Board.
Survivors include her husband, Keith Thompson of Manchester; two daughters, Marla and her husband, Ted Hool of Janesville, and Sherri and her husband, Charlie Pasker of Manchester; a Cambodian couple whom they adopted 25 years ago, Ny and Ronn Hom of Manchester; five grandchildren, Christin Pasker, Kamra (Craig) Schaul, Kyla (Steve) Klosterman, Saran Seang, and Nang (Sophia) Seang; and three great-grandchildren and two on the way.
Earlene was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister.
