Jean Louise Puffett, 81, of Manchester, Iowa, was promoted into heaven, on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, Iowa. She was born on May 28, 1944, in Lamont, the daughter of Carl and Martha (Breckenfelder) Lange. Jean attended Lamont Consolidated School and was a 1962 graduate of Lamont High School. She then attended Humboldt Institute Airline School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Jean worked as a stewardess for Ozark Airlines in Champaign, Illinois, for six months.
On June 30, 1963, Jean was united in marriage to James “Jim” Puffett in Dundee, Iowa. Three sons were born to this union, Jeffrey, Jerald, and Jason. The family resided in Dundee. Jean was a stay-at-home mom and housewife while the boys were young. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s / St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dundee. She taught Sunday School, Bible School, and served on the women’s board for several years. She was also a member of the Dundee Community Club.
Jean enjoyed shopping, reading, bicycling, and hated fishing. She also enjoyed working at Marilyn’s Hallmark and Widner’s Gift Shop in Manchester where she made many friends. Jean loved her family and enjoyed being with them. She especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her three sons, Jeff (Jody) Puffett and Jerry (Kristy) Puffett all of Manchester, and Jason (Molly) Puffett of Independence; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Chuck (Sandra) Lange of Arkansas; brother-in-law, Glenn (Karen) Puffett of Cedar Rapids; special sister-in-law Cathy Colton of California; and several nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jim Puffett in 1996; brother Bob Lange; and infant great-grandchild Adrian Meyer.
